Member’s Trip – Nature Kenya

Samburu National Reserve camping trip 12th -14 December 2019

Samburu National Reserve is situated 350 kilometers North of Nairobi in Samburu County. It is one of the two areas in which conservationists George & Joy Adamson raised Elsa: the Lioness made famous in the bestselling book and award winning movie Born Free. The reserve is also the home of Kamunyak, a lioness famous for adopting oryx calves.

In the middle of the reserve, the Ewaso Ng’iro river flows through doum palm groves which provides water to the game in this arid region.

During the trip, we shall explore the reserves inspiring landscape look out for some of the big five, Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Grevy’s Zebra, Besia Oryx, and much more. Birdlife is prolific with over 450 species of birds recorded.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Nairobi – Samburu ; Meet at NMK- outside Fisheries Department Gate at 7:15 am and depart at 7:30 am for Samburu. We shall have a stopover at enroute for Lunch

Day 2 - Samburu National Reserve -Early morning game drive and head back to the camp for a Brunch at 11:00 am. You shall have an option of visiting a nearby lodge for refreshment /swimming or relaxing at the camp. At 3:00 pm we will start the afternoon game drive and head back to the camp at 6:30 pm for dinner.

Day 3 – Samburu –Nairobi -Breakfast will be served at 8:00 am; we shall enjoy game drive on our way out of the reserve and a stopover for Lunch enroute to Nairobi. We expect to be back at the National Museums of Kenya latest by 4:00 pm

About Menengai crater & Lake Nakuru National Park
Menengai Crater is one of Kenya's most intriguing destinations with spectacular scenery; it is surrounded by lush forest protected by the Kenya Forest Service. The crater is believed to be the second largest caldera in the world at 90 km² and almost 2500 m above sea level.

Lake Nakuru National Park is home to a huge numbers of native African animals including waterbucks, warthogs, impalas, buffalo, Rothschild giraffes, elands, endangered black rhinos, white rhinos and, occasionally, leopards. A large herd of hippos have a territory in the northern part of the lake, making for interesting game viewing. The park is also renowned as a bird sanctuary with over 400 bird species.

Itinerary
During the trip, we will enjoy hiking in the beautiful nature trails of Menengai Crater, and explore Lake Nakuru National park; visit the Makalia Falls, Hippo Pools, Baboon cliff, the lookout point which offers the finest view across the lake.

DAY 1: Hiking Menengai Crater
7:00AM - Depart Nairobi for Menengai Crater.
9:45AM - Start off our hike
1:00 pm - Enjoy picnic lunch at the view point
3:00PM - Evening game drive, dinner & overnight camping at L.Nakuru N.P

Day 2: Game drive- Lake Nakuru National Park
6:30AM -Breakfast
7:00AM -Game drive and bird watching
12:00PM -Picnic lunch at baboon cliff.
3:30PM -Depart for Nairobi

Ol Doinyo Orok Mountain day trip

Join us on a day trip to Ol Doinyo Orok Mountain on Saturday 6^th April 2019.

The Ol Doinyo Orok Mountain is situated approximately 170km from Nairobi in southern Kenya (Namanga town).
During this trip, we shall enjoy approximately 4 to 6 hours of moderate hiking, explore the lush green nature trails watch wildlife & bird, sightseeing & picturesque sceneries

Maasai Mara Trip (19th – 21st October 2019)

Maasai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya and one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system. It hosts over 95 species of mammals and over 570 recorded species of birds. During the trip, we shall set camp near Sekenani gate, enjoy two nights camping and game drives.The trip highlights is the annual wildebeest’s migration which involves over 1.5 million animals

Trip Itinerary

Members trip to Chyulu hills National Park (1st – 3rd June 2018)

We invite you to a 3-day, 2-night camping trip to Chyulu hills this Madaraka Day weekend. (Friday 1^st to Sunday 3^rd June 2018). During the trip, we will explore the rolling Chyulu hills, the amazing Kisula caves, enjoy a mild hike, and watch wildlife & birds hopping to get the splendid vista of Mount Kilimanjaro.

ABOUT CHYULU HILLS & CAVES
Chyulu hills is situated approximately 200km south-east of Nairobi. It rises to an altitude of 2,188m and is 150km long with verdant rolling hills of endless green, great blue skies and spectacular landscape. The park shelters a wide variety of wildlife, which normally wander in from neighboring Amboseli. It also boast of an abundance of different birdlife.

The trip highlight is cave exploration; Chyulu Hills has the deepest known lava tube cave in the world. Numerous lava tube caves, collectively known to the local community as Kisula caves, criss cross the depths of the Chyulu Hills.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Nairobi – Chyulu
Meet at National Museums of Kenya at 8:00 am and depart at 8:30 am. We will stopover at Hunters Lodge -Kiboko for lunch
Day 2 – Chyulu hill Hiking & excursion
Wake up early, take breakfast and start off our hike and excursions, enjoy picnic lunch, caving, site seeing, watch wildlife and birds.
Day 3 – Chyulu hill –Nairobi
Breakfast will be served at 8:00 and prepare our journey back to Nairobi. We will have a stopover for lunch on our way to Nairobi

Cancellation

If a reservation is canceled within 5 days prior – 50% of the total sum payable is due. If canceled on the trip date or fails to show up, full payment is due. In all instances, notification of cancellation must be made in writing and will be effective on the receipt date.
